you might have noticed from my 10 million road trips….i love to travel. after returning from the shortbus trip, i still definately had the traveling bug. I’ve done a decent job in the last few months of suppressing my urges for travel in favor of gaining ‘responsibility’ and ‘experience’. well tonight i finally sat down and caught up on some of my favorite blogs. one of which is by a guy who went on a two month journey around the us and to austrailia, fiji, and new zealand.

now that i have delved into the working world, i’m having all of the sucky realizations…here’s one. I’ve caught myself on numerous nights on the way home from wherever thinking to myself ‘i have to go home, do this, eat that, read this, and then i can be to bed by ____ and get ___ hours of sleep before work’. It’s a not-so-much fun game where you race to do what you need to do and still get to bed early. the only reason to do this is in hopes that if you get yer required 7 or 8 hours of sleep that somehow you will not be tired or in a bad mood at work the next day. Nowadays I really do not believe there is any relation between amount of sleep and happiness the following day yet, I still find myself doing the race to bed almost every night. In the not so distant past, i remember playing a different game. in the old game you try to find as many stupid things to do to keep you up as late as possible. thing such as write blogs, play atari, and try to find the perfect food to make out of what’s in the cubbard at 4am. This game is much better. if you are good at it, you wake up the next day and say to yourself….holy shit…i got a lot done last night. if you suck at it, you just go to bed and are in better position to try again the next night.

oh…i have two minutes left before midnight…looks like i got my blog post in and will still get 7 hrs of sleep. lets see if i yawn tomorrow at all…

you might have noticed some graphical madness in my sidebar. i have finally chosen flickr as my next photoblogger. make sure to check it periodically. i’m going to do the same thing that i was doing with the fotolog and only post my favorite pics… and pass on all of the unfocused sidewalk pics.
